Felt Mallets - Cotton
B-Sharp Percussion mallets of cotton use a special core which represents a midpoint between the cores of pressed felt and cork and that give greater weight to the mallets.
They are elaborated with different core diameters and covered with German felt of high quality in different proportion of layers and thickness. Therefore, they have a color palette as wide as possible for this kind of sound.
To sum up:
4 core measures: 19, 21, 23 and 25 mm.
3 types of core covering: cotton, cotton and felt of 1.5 mm and cotton and felt of 3 mm to chose between the following:
TW: Without felt
TW dF: German Felt (more definition)
TW aF: American felt (more cohesion)
Between 1 and 3 layers of German felt, depending on the model.

And how do they differ?
Cores can only be made of cotton, cotton with German felt (low density) and cotton with American felt (medium density).
The difference between them is that the attack becomes smoother (less consonant/incisive) when the amount of felt that covers it increases. It also depends on the type of felt that the core uses.
To help, imagine how this letters sound:
Without felt: sound with a lot of T in all dynamics.
With German felt: sound with a D attack until mf.
With American felt: sound with a subtle attack. Like the letter N until mf.
All mallets have a lot of body, but the dynamic route until the consonant sound (T) varies. Therefore, each mallet is ideal for different excerpts.
Timpani - Core of 19 mm
Hard mallet, with a lot of sound from the core. Ideal for excerpts that require body and character.
- Cotton core alone or cotton with American or German felt of 1.5 or 3 mm (to choose). Heavy core.
- 1 layer of thin German felt and with little tension.
- Bamboo shaft balanced by weight.
-Total felt thickness: 2.5, 4 or 5.5 mm.
